Employee Spotlight: Meet Ken Still
At Critical Fuel Systems (CFS), we understand that “mission-critical” isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a promise that lives depend on. This month, we are proud to feature Ken Still, our National Sales Manager and the technical lead behind CFS.
While many of you interact with Ken during the startup phase of your projects, his role bridges the specialized engineering of CFS with the 80-year manufacturing heritage of our parent company, BFS Industries.
Since March 2015, Ken’s approach at CFS has been far from traditional sales. On any given day, Ken is as likely to be found at his desk drafting electrical drawings for submittals as he is on-site performing system startups or training consulting engineers.
“In the world of critical fuel, you can’t just talk about the product; you have to understand the nuts and bolts,” Ken says. “By staying involved in our systems, we ensure that the reliability we promise on paper is exactly what clients experience in the field.”
Scaling for the Modern Power Demand
While our parent company, BFS, has been a leader in pump set manufacturing since 1946, CFS was specifically launched in 2009 to meet the intensifying demands of the emergency generator market. Ken has witnessed this evolution firsthand over his 30-year career in the industry.
“When I started, a ‘large’ system was perhaps 1 megawatt,” Ken explains. “Today, we are regularly designing systems for 100 to 150 megawatts. Whether it’s a hospital that needs to stay powered when the lights go out or data centers requiring hours of battery backup, the scale of what we protect has grown exponentially.”
To meet this demand, Ken and the CFS team specialize in industrial-grade, custom solutions. Whether it’s a pump set designed to function under 90 feet of floodwater or a filtration system stacked on a day tank to save floor space, the mantra at CFS is simple: We don’t make you fit our shoes; we build the shoes that fit your application.
The Power of Partnership
Ken’s has a big appreciation for the collaborative culture at BFS and CFS. He credits strong personal connections and clear communication with colleagues, whom he describes as “the best in the business“ as the foundation that allows CFS to execute complex, high-stakes projects.
For Ken, the excitement lies in the constant evolution of the field. “There is something new every day,” he says. “The technology, from advanced PLCs to high-precision sensors, is always moving forward, and we’re moving with it.”
We are honored to have Ken’s expertise at the helm of our sales and technical operations. His dedication ensures that when the power goes out, your CFS system performs exactly as intended.
